MACIR is proud to recognize Wave Life Sciences for their generous donation of nearly 100 high-quality laptops—an investment that will significantly expand digital access for individuals and families across Massachusetts. This contribution from the life sciences sector demonstrates how innovative companies can support community needs while creating long-term social impact.
These laptops, all in excellent working condition, will be fully refurbished by MACIR’s technical team. Each device will be securely wiped, upgraded with Windows 11, equipped with Microsoft Office, and prepared for long-term use. Once restored, they will be distributed through MACIR’s Digital Access Center and partner organizations, ensuring they reach students, job seekers, seniors, and families who currently lack reliable technology. Support from leaders in life sciences is helping us make digital access more equitable statewide.

“Thanks to Wave Life Sciences, we’ll be able to provide hundreds of people with the tools they need to learn, work, and stay connected,” said Rachid Moukhabir, Founder and Executive Director of MACIR. “This kind of support has a lasting impact in our communities.”
Why These Donations Matter
In today’s digital world, access to a functional computer is essential. Yet many households still rely on outdated devices, shared computers, or no technology at all. A single laptop can create opportunities that transform daily life:
– Students can complete assignments, access virtual learning, and build essential skills.
– Job seekers can apply for positions, complete training, and create résumés.
– Seniors can connect with telehealth services and stay in touch with family.
– Families can manage remote work, communication, and essential online tasks.
Donations like this one from Wave Life Sciences directly support MACIR’s mission to reduce digital inequity and uplift communities who face the greatest barriers to technology access.
Corporate Giving That Makes a Difference
Wave Life Sciences’ contribution reflects a powerful model of responsible corporate engagement. Instead of retiring devices to storage or discarding them, the company has chosen to extend the life of valuable equipment and reinvest in the community. This approach not only strengthens households across Massachusetts—it also supports sustainability by reducing electronic waste.
MACIR encourages other companies, especially those in the growing life sciences field, to explore similar opportunities. Devices that no longer meet internal corporate standards can still provide critical value to families seeking employment, education, and digital stability.
Building a Stronger Digital Future
The impact of these laptops continues long after distribution. Every refurbished device represents new possibilities for learning, career advancement, and independence. Parents can use laptops to take online courses, complete workforce training, or manage important documents. Young people can explore digital learning platforms, research schools, and develop technical skills. Seniors gain tools to join telehealth appointments, manage online accounts, and reduce isolation by connecting with loved ones.
This donation strengthens MACIR’s broader mission to expand digital access throughout the state. Partnerships with organizations like Wave Life Sciences allow our Digital Access Center to serve more residents and respond quickly to urgent community needs.
Expanding the Circle of Impact
These contributions also support environmental stewardship. By refurbishing donated laptops, MACIR prevents unnecessary electronic waste and extends the useful life of high-quality devices. Our technicians ensure each laptop is securely cleaned, updated, and prepared for reliable long-term use. Together with partners such as Wave Life Sciences, we are building a sustainable, community-centered model for digital inclusion.
MACIR continues to collaborate with nonprofits, schools, businesses, and local leaders across Massachusetts. Expanding our network allows us to deliver more training programs, distribute more devices, and reach individuals who face daily challenges connecting to the digital world.
