Program Description

IT expertise holds immense value across numerous industries worldwide. Our concise eight-week IT professional training program is designed to equip self-motivated individuals with the skills necessary to qualify for entry-level IT positions paying 50K to 70K in the Greater Boston area. With the guidance of our expert instructors, you will acquire a professional skill set and receive assistance in crafting an outstanding resume that sets you apart in the competitive job market. Our program offers hands-on training, internship opportunities, and the potential for job placement, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience tailored to your needs and goals.

Throughout the course, you will delve into the essential IT fundamentals required for entry-level positions. Our immersive labs will cover a range of topics, including computer assembly, Windows imaging, MAC OS operating system, Active Directory, Microsoft license management in the Office 365 Admin Portal, Google suite administration, mobile device management, and troubleshooting computer systems, printers, and network connectivity issues. After completing each lab, you will have the opportunity to present your work to the class, enhancing your communication and presentation skills.

From day one, our students engage in real-world IT practices, utilizing professional ticketing systems to process work assignments and leveraging Slack communication tools to interact with team members and efficiently manage projects. Upon completion of the program, students will obtain Google IT Support Professional certification, signaling to potential employers that they are job-ready and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field.

Our IT Support classes are conveniently conducted via Zoom, providing flexibility for participants. These classes are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

To ensure comprehensive training and practical experience, we offer mandatory lab sessions and internship opportunities. These sessions and internships take place at our Boston training center every day, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. This hands-on component is essential for applying the knowledge gained in the virtual classroom and gaining real-world experience in a supportive environment.

At MACIR, we provide three sessions throughout the year to accommodate different schedules and preferences: winter, summer, and fall. We aim to offer opportunities for individuals to join our program at various times, ensuring accessibility and flexibility.

Instructor

Dr. Adam Aakil

Adam Aakil is a Biomedical Imaging Engineering Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science in UMASS Lowell. After completing his doctoral degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Master’s degree in Bioimaging from B.U Medical School, he received his postdoctoral training in medical imaging at Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School earning a Training Fellowship in Perfusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging from the NIH. Dr. Aakil was also a Research Associate for Eight years at the Laboratory for Image Processing at the Department of Radiology in Boston Medical Center/ B.U Medical School. He has extensive tutoring and research mentoring experience at the graduate levels (masters students in Bioimaging, medical students). Dr. Aakil has also extensive experience in radiological research, specifically in biomedical imaging foundation and image processing, algorithm development for multispectral quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (qMRI), for magnetic resonance perfusion (MRP), and for MRI microscopy.
